2. Section the back from ear to ear. Secure the top section and the back with a hair tie or clip.
3. Begin French braiding on of the sides. Once you get past your ear, transition to a regular braid. Repeat on the other side and tie off the ends.
4. Spray hair with a heat protectant like Matrix Biolage Thermal Active Setting Spray or Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray and flat iron the back until smooth.
5. Backcomb the middle section. For extra body, blast the roots with a thickening spray first. Professional hair stylist Tara Shakespeare used Redken Quick Tease 15 to create lift.
6. Pull the braids to meet in the middle and secure them with bobby pins over the top section. Insert the bobby pins directly into the center of the braid to hide the pins.
